Every college has one and students are usually hanging out there until all hours of the night. If you thought the dreaded library, guess again. I’m talking about that one bar that everyone seems to have a soft spot for, no matter how dirty, old, and full of “locals” it may be.

Allow me to introduce, Monmouth University.  A school that may arguably have more notiriety because of its Daddy Warbucks roots and five minute proximity to the beaches of Long Branch than academics. Case in point, their students have found comfort in Jack’s. This tiny hole in the wall has become the place to be on Tuesdays for MU undergrads to imbibe the night away (and the place where I was fortunate enough to spend my 21st birthday). In 1862, the underdog Mexican army whooped the French army’s butt in the Battle of Puebla. In 2010, American corporations still use the holiday – now virtually meaningless in Mexico – as an excuse to promote overconsumption of beer and nachos.
